So what exactly is culture? It is definetly the total of characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people. What do I mean by that? Different religion, cusuines with delicious tastes, music, arts, habits. Meeting new people teaches you a lot of things. By listening the different habits and traditions of people from different countries (mostly from International students), I was really surprised how different people we all are. As I have an African collegue from Sudan, I have learned new things which were completely new to me. One thing that really surprised me is Ramadan.During the month of Ramadan, Muslims won’t eat or drink during the hours of daylight. This is called fasting. Children are not expected to fast until they reach puberty. Usually the ideal age is around the age of 14. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. The exact dates of Ramadan change every year. This is because Islam uses a calendar based on the cycles of the Moon. Learning new things from people from different countries worldwide, surerly expands not only your knowledge but also your spiritual horizons.
