My opinion on Coronavirus

So we all know about the wide spreading of the Corona virus which originated from China, about 2 months ago. Every news report talk about this epidemic virus which is supposed to be extremely hazard and infectious. As a Master student on Clinical Microbiology, I would say I quite disagree with the whole corona virus issue. Millions of people say that it’s the most dangerous virus in the world, spreading death in a very rapid way. In fact only 2% of cases have reported deaths, which most of these deaths are associated with elder people, and with people with very weak immune system. Washing hands and sneezing into the elbows is the best way to prevent the spread, apart from using masks. All TV channels are telling us to panic and blame China for this emerging disease. In fact the panic and hysteria is done by racism and xenophobia. People have to realize that there are much more deadly viruses and illnesses in this world. I understand this is a new phenomenon emerging on the surface of the earth. Fortunately science has done an extreme big progress regarding the treatment, prevention and the drugs used to eradicate illnesses. I believe a vaccine or a new drug will come out, and hopefully the panic and hysteria will be gone.
